Keeping Your Family Safe In An Unsafe World!
When it comes to violence and assaults, we typically don’t want to think about it, no one likes to talk about it and if the media isn’t covering it, it’s almost as if it doesn’t exist, especially in our neighborhood.
In our community, where we live and work, we want to feel safe. There’s a false sense of security when it comes to our neighborhoods and our community. We live here, so we believe nothing bad should happen to us. We know the people who live around us.
Today more than ever is the time to stop for a moment to think about our safety and the safety of those around us and take personal responsibility for ourselves.
Unfortunately, although we like to believe it’s possible, the police can’t be everywhere all the time. It’s up to us to develop a personal protection plan to protect ourselves.
The first step in a personal protection is avoidance.
Yes, we should be able to sit in a car late at night working on a laptop without the threat of being robbed. We should be able to fill up our car at whatever gas station we want to and not worry about our car being stolen, but the reality is we can’t.
There are certain things we must do, such as, avoiding certain areas after dark (especially when traveling alone) in order to lessen the chances of becoming a victim.
The second step to protecting yourself, is trusting your inner voice.
Use your intuition. This is one of the reason we have it. If there’s an uneasy feeling in your stomach, there’s a good chance danger is lurking around the corner. Rather than suppressing the physical and mental triggers caused by the body’s awareness to threat, use it to your advantage. It just might save your life.
Start Strong, Finish Stronger!
