Tracking Your Progress Part 2
Last week we talked about the importance of tracking your numbers in terms of workouts, cardio, rest/recovery and nutrition.
We then took a closer look at the nutrition. Manly because most people who struggle to see results from fitness routines are guilty of nutrition mistakes.
To read last week’s blog post check it out here.
I recommended a website for fitness/nutrition tracking, myfitnesspal.com. There’s also an app for the phone which makes it convenient while out and on the go. Check it out, it’s free and works really well.
Before I recommend things to clients, I always look into them extensively. Why? Because my reputation rides on making sure our clients, members and folks like you get results.
So, I started using the app on May 10th 2012. I weighed in at 185 pounds. On May 31st 2012 only 21 days after tracking my food and cardio I had lost 10 pounds - 175!
I mentioned last week the importance of tracking everything. Since my knee surgery last year, I haven’t really tracked everything I did in terms of fitness and nutrition very strictly. In the past month Stacy and I have started training for the Half Ironman in September.
We've started recording everything!
With the decrease in weight, I was able to run my fastest 5k this past weekend at a 6:40 pace, taking 3rd overall. Stacy was the 4th fastest female. We both placed 1st in our age group.
The next day I placed 9th overall in a sprint triathlon - 3rd in age group. (sweetwater triathlon).
I tell you this because tracking is the key to knowing where you are and figuring out if you're getting closer to or farther away from your goals.
But the proof is here! If you track your routines and daily nutrition, be honest with what you’re really eating and the level of exercise you’re doing, you will see results on the scale, in your waist line and finally see the body you’re looking for!
Now, unfortunately, if we just tracked our nutrition and don’t follow guidelines that will support muscle and burn fat, we may get some results, but maybe not the real outcome we want. There has to be a proper system for nutrition in place and follow it.
The other part of last week’s post was about Trinity’s Nutrition Boot camp. I threw that out there because we cover all the aspects of nutrition. From myths and lies to supplements and guidelines for successful fat loss and muscle building.
About an hour after sending out the post, I had people signing up for the seminar. We usually don’t hold multi date seminars during the summer because of vacations and commitments.
What we’re going to do is have a 1 day event. On Saturday, June 23rd from 12-2pm we will cover everything you need to know about nutrition. In as little as 21 days you will see a difference!
You can register for the event at Trinity’s Nutrition Breakthrough Seminar!
