Over the weekend the fitness industry as well as the world lost an extraordinary man! Jack LaLanne, now recognized as “that juicer guy on t.v.” was considered the “God Father” of fitness. He brought fitness, nutrition and healthy living to the masses through his television show.
Jack wasn’t always in shape and promoting fitness to other people. At one point, after attending a lecture on nutrition, the speaker, Paul Bragg, called Jack “a walking garbage can.” This was greatly in part due to Jack’s lack of healthy nutritional habits.
After trading in these old unhealthy habits for a life of bettering himself, his mission became that of helping others get off the couch and get moving.
His hobby of fitness became the corner stone of his life and is the reason he was able to maintain such an active lifestyle into his 90’s!
His passion for fitness and helping people never wavered throughout his life. To celebrate his 65th birthday, he swam the ocean off the coast of Japan, pulling 65 boats behind him.
He challenged other people by challenging himself. At 95, he was still showing off that he could do finger push ups!
Let us all learn from Jack’s example of living life and using fitness and nutrition as a lifestyle throughout our entire life and not just something to dabble in.
