Keep Your Eye on the Prize!
The Olympics are coming up and I thought this would be a good time to talk about focus. Now, I know most of us won't be competing in the Olympics anytime soon, but can takeaway a huge lesson from the focus of athletes. The phrase, "Keep your eye on the prize" has been around for a long time. I heard it as a young athlete coming up through Tae Kwon Do.
As a matter of fact, it gets used a lot even when we're joking around. But, focusing on what you want is the key to getting it. Ask any Olympic gold medalist after they run their fastest race, jump higher than ever before in practice or when the odds seem to be against them they don't quit and score a final point to come away with a victory.
When we're talking about weight loss it's the same thing. keeping your eye on the prize, in this case your size, it's important to stay focused on what you want even when the tough days come.
Remember, why you want to lose weight... keep a constant reminder of something that makes you feel good about losing the weight and achieving a higher level of fitness. Maybe it's finishing your first 10k or in the beginning it could be as little as walking up a flight of stairs without getting winded.
Have fun with this. If you don't have a motivation find something that will keep you in the game and your eye on the prize!
A little side note here. If you do not come up with something that motivates where you can feel it burning inside you, you may start strong, but you certainly won't finish strong... you probably won't finish at all.
So, get out there, get fired up, get a little dirty and let's s get that PRIZE!
We can all be Champions!
Start Strong, Finish Stronger!
